I am now using the Socrates Theme on ALL of my ‘Future’ Blogs and Websites as well as converting some of my older established ones.

I bought the product early in the release stage and naturally there were a few teething problems at first – and so I put the file on the back burner for a while knowing that all the little foibles would get ironed out quite quickly – (and they did). I uploaded the newer zip-file and took a couple of minutes to upload it to my wordpress blog and Hey Presto! Everything worked absolutely fine. No blips, no hiccups, all plain sailing.

‘This’ blog is just an example of the very simple ‘basic’ setup which still looks pretty professional I think. I’ve not tinkered with the layout or anything because I wanted you to see how it would look if you only did the very minimum when setting up your blog or webpages.

As you’ll see, even a child could set up their own WordPress blog using the socrates dashboard, the only confusing bit is when you rush to see how your blog looks ‘before’ you set it up and a red banner shows saying that the blog hasn’t been activated yet. (Even though you know it has) This is because you have to insert your download ID into the option tab that ‘only’ shows up when you begin to set up your blog through the Socrates dashboard. At first, I couldn’t find out where it was and it took me a while to find out how to get it, so to save you the same little hiccup I’ll share the procedure here with you.

First, you will receive details by E-mail how to access the download area, you’ll set up your ID and your password and log in. If you didn’t get your activation code at that point, or you skipped past it, you need to click the link that says ‘Downloads’ in the right-hand sidebar and the page opens up and shows you your activation link which you then copy and paste into the ‘Prompt’ box that shows up when you start to Edit the socrates set-up dashboard. If you leave it a while before you set up your first blog (like me) then it’s easy to forget where it is. So I copied the activation code into an E-mail, sent it to myself and then saved it into a ‘Socrates’ folder in my Gmail.com E-mail account. (Easy Access for all future WP Themes )

Having said that, after purchase, you do have access to an excellent forum dedicated to the Socrates WordPress Theme and every conceivable question you could think of is likely to be answered there, along with many ideas for future developments which you would be privvy to.

Now I don’t know if you already have a hosting account or a Domain name provider account, but I have to say that GoDaddy.com and Hostgator.com are a perfect match. You can buy your Domain with GoDaddy, have it hosted on Hostgator and then ‘active’, ready to work on in just a few minutes. Many other Domain registrars and Hosting accounts make you wait 24 – 48 hours before you can begin working on your blogs so I would definitely recommend GoDaddy.com & Hostgator.com as the perfect combination. GoDaddy domains are very cheap and HostGator let you host unlimited domains for next-to-nothing per month.

Another thing to consider when hosting with  Hostgator.com is that for each seperate domain you host, you can have as many sub-domains as you like associated to that domain … and here’s the Rub ……. each sub-domain can have it’s very own  ‘independant’   Socrates Themed WordPress Blog
